今日、8月2日は、妻と私の結婚57周年の記念日です。この日を迎えられたのは、アルコホーリクス・アノニマスと、慈愛に満ちた
ハイヤー・パワー（HP=ハイヤーパワー）神、または高次の力、自分を超えた大きな力。意志と生き方をゆだねる対象。
のおかげです。AAは、アルコールと利己的な考え方に溺れていた私を、溺れ死にそうな状態から救い出してくれました。

3か月だった頃のことです。当時5歳と7歳だった子どもたちが、大きな厚紙に大きなハートを描き、その真ん中に「VIVE LES AA（AA万歳！）」と書いてくれました。それは、私を、そして私たちの結婚生活を救ってくれたAAの仲間の皆さん全員への、子どもたちなりの「ありがとう」だったのです。

I'm an alcoholic and my name is Robert. I'd like to share something with you. Today, August 2, my wife and I will be celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary. This was made possible by Alcoholics Anonymous and a benevolent Higher Power. AA rescued me from drowning, drowning in alcohol and in my selfishness. At the first Father's Day that year, when I was three months sober, my children who were then 5 and 7 years old, took a large piece of cardboard and drew a big heart on it. And in the middle they wrote, "VIVE LES AA" (long live AA). That was their way of saying thank you to *all of you* for saving me... and our marriage.
