アルコホーリクのロバートです。ビッグブック88ページ（日本語版 p128）、「第七章 仲間と共に」の章の冒頭で、Dr. ボブの考えが見事に表現されています。
「実際の経験によれば、他のアルコホーリクと徹底的にかかわっていくことほど、再飲酒を防ぐ保証になる行動はない。（中略）それが私たちの十二番目の提案である。つまりこのメッセージを、他のアルコホーリクに伝えることだ！他の誰も手助けができないときに、あなたは助けになれる。（中略）人生は新たな意味を持ち始める。誰かが回復していき、彼らがまた他の人を助けるのを見ること、彼らの中から孤独が消えていくのを見守ること、仲間の共同体があなたのまわりに育っていくのを見ること、仲間がたくさんできること、こうした経験をあなたはとり逃してはならない。」
それはビルの経験であり、ボブの経験であり、そして私たち一人ひとりが自分の人生の中でステップ12を実践し始めたときの経験でもあります。自分の

I'm an alcoholic and my name is Robert. On page 88 in the Big Book, at the beginning of the chapter WORKING WITH OTHERS, Dr Bob's reasoning is expressed eloquently:
"Practical experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics. This is our /twelfth suggestion/: Carry this message to other alcoholics! You can help when no one else can. [...] Life will take on new meaning. To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends--this is an experience you must not miss."
That has been Bill's experience, Bob's experience and the experience of every one of us when we start applying Step 12 in our lives. I'm so happy when I see a sponsee of mine show up at a meeting with a newcomer in tow whom he is instructing on how to recover from alcoholism. We all share in the joy of seeing somebody catching on to the miracle of AA. We know how the light will shine in their new sober lives. Bob and Bill paved the way for us to know the same joy.
