の仲間のみなさん、こんにちは。土曜日の午後ですね。ここテキサス州ヒューストンは美しい一日で、私がそれに値するためにやったことといえば、ただ来ただけです。私は感謝とともに目覚めました。ソーバーで、79歳で、まだ息をしている――そのすべてに深く感謝しています。（初めてAAに来た）1985年5月20日以前は、こんなふうに目覚めることはありませんでしたが、それ以降は程度の差こそあれ、ずっとこうです。

そして、私たちのこの病気が進行性であるのと同じように、私の経験では回復もまた進行していきます。最初はすべてが恵みでした。神／／宇宙の創造的な力は、私が求めようと求めまいと、望もうと望むまいと、現れてくれました。私は神から逃れることはできませんでしたし、になる前に自分が欲しいものを手にいれるために神を利用することができなかったのと同じくらい、神を避けることもできなかったのです。

でも気づいたのです。ソーバーでいて、やる気を持ち、少しは心を開いた状態に（苦笑）自分がなると、物事が動き始め、変化し始めるということに。神はどちらにしても現れてくれるけれど、私が現れたとき（ミーテイングなどに参加したとき）のほうが、うまくいくようになるのです。

私にとって恵みとは、シンプルに神の愛そのものです。それは奇跡のように素晴らしいときもあれば、努力や労力を要することもありますが、神と共に関わるとき、私は（問題そのものではなく）解決策の一部となることができるのです。

それが私にとってのやり方であり、これまでうまくいってきた方法です。そして、この分かち合いの機会に心から感謝しています。ジェフさん、そして皆さん、おめでとうございます。

Good Saturday afternoon, my ESH friends. It’s a beautiful day in Houston, TX, and the only thing I did to deserve it is show up. I gratefully awakened sober, 79 years old and still breathing, and oh so grateful for all of that. That was not the way I awakened prior to 05/20/85, but it has been that way to some degree since.

And while this disease we have is progressive, in my experience, so is the recovery. At first, it was all grace. God/HP/Creative Force of the Universe showed up whether I asked or wanted Him to or not. I couldn’t avoid God any more than I could use Him to get what I wanted before sobriety.

But I noted, when I showed up with a willing sober mind, partially open (lol), things began to happen and change. God showed up either way, but when I showed up, it began to work better.

Grace for me is God’s love, plain and simple. Sometimes it’s miraculously good, and sometimes it’s hard work and effort, but I am able to be part of the solution when I participate with God.

That’s how it’s worked for me, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity. Thank you for letting me share. Congrats, Jeff and others.
