まだ先週のミーティングのクロージングのメールが届いていませんが（キッツァおめでとう！）、 東部標準時で日曜日になったので、今週のミーティングを始めますね。

先走ってしまっていたらごめんなさい。

の今週のミーティングへようこそ。

ミーティングの構成は、司会者がその週のトピックを選び、グループの誰もがそのトピックについて分かち合ったり、あるいはトピックの代わりに、その月に対応するステップや伝統についてシェアすることができます。例えば、11月にはステップ11や伝統11についてシェアすることができます。より多くの仲間の参加を促すことを目的として、最近このように変更しました。

はメールを用いたグループであるため、シェアする人は、他の形式のミーティングで見られるような笑顔やうなずく姿が見えません。私たちの中には、メールで返事を送ることでその共感や賛同を伝える人もいます。しかし、グループ全体への投稿を最小限に抑えるために、個人的なメッセージはグループを通さず、直接その人に送るようお願いしています。

のミーティングは日曜日の未明早朝以降（米国東部標準時）に始まり、次の土曜日の午後11時59分まで、メンバーは分かち合いを行うことが出来ます。全メンバーは、ご自身のAA記念日である・デートに分かち合いを行うことが推奨されています。AA以前の生活がどうだったか。何が起こって、現在はどうなっているかを、グループの仲間に教えてください。

3月21日が私のAA記念日で、先日ささやかなお祝いのミーティングを開いて記念のメダルを受け取りました。ソーバーになってから18回目の桜の季節を迎えることが出来ました。ありがとう。

お酒を飲んでいた頃はシラフで生きるなんてまっぴらだと思っていましたが、様々な偶然と幸福が重なり、AAに来てシラフで生きるようになった現在は、シラフで生きる今日一日のなんと素晴らしいことだろうと毎日思います。

私のラストドリンクは2008年1月28日で、その晩酔っ払ってトラブルを起こし、泥酔者である私は警察に保護されました。警察署で一晩眠って酔いが覚めて、簡単な取り調べを受けた後、家に帰っても良いということになりました。帰る前に、私の対応をしてくれた年配の刑事さんが強い口調で私に言いました。

「あなたが警察署に保護されるのは、今回が初めてではないでしょう。こういうことを繰り返していると、本格的な事件を起こして本当に刑務所に行くことになりますよ。素行を改めたほうがいいですよ。」

それともうひとつ

「おそらくあなたは病気だから、病院で治療を受けた方がいいですよ。」

彼の言葉がきっかけになり、私は病院に行き、入院中にAAの事を知りました。一般的に警察の対応とは事務的なもので、彼のように親切な助言をしてくれる人に出会えたのは非常に幸運な事だったと現在は理解しています。その他にも今になって思うと、私がソーバーの道のりに入ることを後押ししてくれた出会いや出来事がいくつもあったと思います。当時はわからなかった見えない力が、私の背中を押してくれていたのだと思います。

今週のテーマは
「AAに来たことはあなたにとって必然でしたか？導かれたと思いますか？」を提案します。またはステップ４や伝統４についてでもOKです。

We haven’t received the closing email for last week’s meeting yet (Congratulations, Kitza!), but since it’s now Sunday EST, I’ll go ahead and start this week’s meeting.

Apologies if I’m jumping the gun.

WELCOME TO THE ESH WEEKLY MEETING

The structure of an ESH meeting is that the chairperson selects a topic for the week and anyone in the group has the option to share on that topic or as an alternative, a member may share on the step or tradition correlating to the month of the year. For example, in November you may share on Step 11 or Tradition 11. This is a recent change we hope will encourage more participation.

Since ESH is an email-based group, a person who shares does not see the smile or nodding head that he/she does in other meeting formats.

Some of us provide that validation through an email response. In order to keep the postings to a minimum for the entire group, we do request that personal messages be sent directly to that person and not via the Group.

The ESH meeting will begin no earlier than Sunday morning any time after midnight EST and members are requested to post their shares no later than the following Saturday night at 11:59 PM EST. All members are encouraged to share their A.A. anniversary on their annual sobriety date. Tell the group what your life was like before AA, what happened, and what it's like today.

March 21 is my AA anniversary, and I recently held a small celebration meeting where I received my anniversary medallion. I’ve now been blessed to see my 18th cherry blossom season since getting sober. Thank you.

Back when I was drinking, the very idea of living sober was the last thing I wanted. But through a series of coincidences and blessings, I found my way to AA, and now that I am living sober, I find myself thinking every day how wonderful this one sober day truly is.

My last drink was on January 28, 2008. That night I got drunk, caused trouble, and, being severely intoxicated, was taken into protective custody by the police. After sleeping overnight at the police station and sobering up, I was briefly questioned and then told I could go home.

Before I left, the older detective who had dealt with me spoke in a firm tone.

“This can’t be the first time you’ve been taken into protective custody. If you keep repeating this kind of behavior, one day you’ll cause a serious incident and really end up in prison. You should straighten out your ways.”

And one more thing.

“You are probably ill, and I think you would be better off receiving treatment at a hospital.”

His words became a turning point for me. I went to the hospital, and while I was there, I learned about AA.

In general, police responses tend to be procedural, and I now understand how incredibly fortunate I was to meet someone kind enough to offer advice like he did.

Looking back, I can see that there were many encounters and events that helped guide me onto the path of sobriety. I believe there was an unseen force—something I could not recognize at the time—gently pushing me forward.
