ローリー、トピックと最初の分かち合いをありがとう。これまでに経験を分かち合ってくれた仲間の皆さんにも感謝します。ローリーが『AA成年に達する (AA Comes of Age)』を出典として挙げてくれたおかげで、私がその本を初めて最初から最後まで通して読んだ、あのとても長い週末のことを思い出しました。
私は夢中になって読み、楽しみ、学びも深まり、何がなんでも最後のページまで読み通さずにはいられませんでした。それ以来、この本は私の頼りにする参考書となっています。特に「歴史のランドマーク」の部分 (※1) は重宝しています。
立ち直ったアルコホーリクのトニーです。数年前、私の
ホームグループAAの中で自分が所属し、活動の拠点となるグループ
（Happy Destiny）は、ヨハネスブルグ（南アフリカ）で水曜の昼間にミーティングを開いていました。参加者はさまざまで、退職者や営業職の男女、小規模小売店のオーナー、子どもが成長した主婦などがいました。
ヨハネスブルグの北部に住むメンバーは、北側から南部で開かれるミーティングまで片道およそ30分かけて通っていました。メンバーは北部と南部からの参加者がほぼ半々で、各オープンミーティングにはおよそ25人のAAメンバーが集まっていました。
2019年のコロナ禍（Covid）流行が始まったとき、すべてのAAのミーティング会場は閉鎖され、対面のミーティングはおよそ2年間行われませんでした。(Happy Destiny) グループは既にしっかりとした基盤があり、創設から約20年経っていました。
対面ミーティングが再開できるようになると、北部の数名の仲間が独自に（南部で）水曜昼のミーティングを始めると決めていたことが分かりました。そのミーティングは、元の (Happy Destiny) のミーティングと同じ形式で行われていました。
私はこの出来事に驚き、憤りを感じました。そして南部のミーティングを復活させようと試みましたが、うまくいきませんでした。
伝統4 (訳註・原文の Tradition Fiveは誤記) が適用されるかどうか、そして新しい北部のグループに対して何ができるかを話し合った結果、北部にも昼のミーティングが必要であるという結論に達しました。そのミーティングは人気があり、現在では (Happy Destiny) のミーティングよりも大きく成長しています。
今週もこうして参加してくださりありがとうございます。この伝統の「ルール62 (※2) 」と呼ばれる側面を思い出させてくれたこと、そして「実践することが成長につながる」ということを改めて教えてくれました。

Thank you Laurie for your topic and introduction, and to all who have shared their experience so far. Your source reference, Laurie, of "AA Comes of Age" transported me back to a longer than long weekend when I first read this volume from cover to cover.
I was fascinated, amused and enriched, and just had to read through to the last page. Since then it has been my go-to reference book — particularly for all the Landmarks in History.
I'm Tony, a recovered alcoholic, and a few years ago my home group (Happy Destiny) held Wednesday lunchtime meetings servicing a mix of members in Johannesburg: retired folk, salesmen and women, owners of small retail businesses, and housewives with grown-up children.
The Northerners travelled for about 30 minutes each way from the north side around Joburg to the meeting held in the South. The membership was split roughly 50/50 between North and South travellers, with about 25 AAs at each open meeting.
When the 2019 Covid epidemic struck, all AA meeting rooms were closed and no F2F meetings were held for about two years. The (HD) group was well established and about twenty years old.
When it became possible for F2F meetings to start again, we discovered that a few of the Northerners had decided to start their own Wednesday lunchtime meeting, using the same format as the original (HD) meeting.
I was stunned and resentful about this turn of events and tried to revive the Southern meeting, without success.
In discussing whether Tradition Five applied and what could be done about the new Northern group, we concluded that there was a need for a lunchtime meeting in the North. It was well supported and has grown to be bigger than the (HD) meeting.
Thank you for being here again for me this week, reminding me about Rule 62 in this tradition, and that practice makes progress.
