の仲間たち、こんばんは。

ロバート、今週のリードと毎週のシェアをありがとう。ソーバーの節目（バースデー）を迎えた仲間の皆さん、おめでとうございます！そしてに初めて参加する仲間たち、ようこそ。ここに来てくれて本当にうれしいです。

テーマ：今週は第7章「仲間と共に」から取り上げます。

「実際の経験によれば、他のアルコホーリクと徹底的にかかわっていくことほど、再飲酒を防ぐ保証になる行動はない。... 人生は新たな意味を持ち始める。誰かが回復していき、彼らがまた他の人を助けるのを見ること。... こうした経験をあなたは取り逃がしてはならない。」( 日本語版 p128)

立ち直ったアルコホーリクのドミニクです。これは私にとって、から得られたもう一つの深い霊的真理です。また、クリスチャンとして見ると、マタイによる福音書19章30節「先の者があとになり、あとの者が先になる」に見事に合致します。マタイのこの節の文脈には、自分自身に仕える前に他者に仕えるという呼びかけが含まれています。

ソーバーになって約90日の頃、AAの「バック・トゥ・ザ・ベーシックス」というステップ・スタディのワークショップで、まだのいない仲間から、をしてくださいと頼まれました。私はその提案に従い、それ以来ずっとその仲間のをしています。経験が浅かった頃は、自分がに向いているとは思っていませんでした。自分を「メッセージを伝える人」とは見なしておらず、ましてや伝道者などではありませんでした。しかし、私はソーバーを保つためには何でもやると決意していたので、承諾しました。第7章で奨励されているやり方は、本当に正しかったのだと証明されました。

仲間のをし、そして私を神の器として用いて他の仲間に届けるという特権を持つことで、私の人生のあらゆる面において、私をより良い人間に変えてくれました。私の考えでは、誰かのを引き受ける仲間たちは、他の方法では得られない霊的な成長の手助けをしてもらっているのです。回復の中で価値あるの形は沢山ありますが、私はシップこそ、基本的であり変化をもたらすことであると実感しています。

私のの中には、まだ誰かのをしたことが無い仲間もいます。私は彼らに対して、数字を競うようなことではなく、他の仲間に手を差し伸べる意欲を持って誰かのとなることを考えるように励まし続けています。恐れを脇に置き、他の仲間のために本当に自分をオープンにした時に、神 ― あるいは私たちの ― は最終的に私たちの人生において、共に取り組むべき人と巡り合わせてくれることでしょう。マタイ22章39節で、「あなたの隣人をあなた自身のように愛しなさい」とイエスが言ったように、私にとってのそれは、自分に特別に与えられた能力で人を愛し手助けをするために、他に人に対して自分をオープンにすることを意味します ―― その時の自分が「準備ができている」と感じているかどうかに関わらずです。

誰かと共にに取り組み、その人の霊的な目が開かれるのを見ることに勝るものはありません。本当にこれは、「絶対に体験すべき」経験です。

Good afternoon, ESH,

Thank you, Robert, for leading this week, and for weekly shares. To anyone celebrating a sobriety milestone—congratulations! And to those who are new to ESH, welcome. We are truly glad you’re here.

Topic: This week is taken from Chapter 7, WORKING WITH OTHERS:

"Practical experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics... Life will take on new meaning. To watch people recover, to see them help others ... this an experience you must not miss."

Dominic recovered alcoholic. For me, this is another deep spiritual truth from the Big Book, and as a Christian it aligns beautifully with Matthew 19:30: “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” Within the context of this verse is the call to serve others before serving myself.

At around 90 days sober, I was asked to sponsor someone who did not yet have a sponsor at an AA “Back to the Basics” step study workshop. I followed that direction and have been sponsoring men ever since. Before that first experience, I didn’t believe I was cut out for sponsorship. I didn’t see myself as a “message carrier” and certainly not an evangelist. But I had committed to going to any length for my sobriety, so I said yes. Chapter 7’s encouragement proved true.

Sponsoring men—and having the privilege of God using me as a vessel to reach others—has made me a better man in every aspect of my life. In my view, sponsees help us grow spiritually in ways we might not grow otherwise. While there are many valuable forms of service in recovery, I’ve found sponsorship to be both fundamental and transformative.

Some of my sponsees have not yet sponsored anyone. I continue to encourage them to consider it, not as a numbers game, but as a willingness to be available to others. When we set aside fear and make ourselves truly available, God—or our Higher Power—will eventually place someone in our lives to work with. As Jesus said in Matthew 22:39, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” For me, that means making myself available to love and help others, especially in ways I’ve been uniquely equipped to do—whether or not I feel “ready” at the time.

There is nothing like working the 12-steps with someone and seeing their spiritual eyes opening. Indeed, “this an experience you must not miss."
