Mike C...recovered alcoholic,
Welcome to anyone who is new or relatively new to AA or to ESH...I hope you find here what I and many others have found, a way of living which works. Congratulations to any and all celebrating an AA milestone {{{Jan!!!}}}!
Thanks Jan for your topic of "Gratitude".
I have to say that one thing I'm most grateful for is that our founding members wrote down the program of recovery for us, so that when I got here there was a choice between following what is the fellowship message that AA is inundated with, and the actual 12 Steps they had done to recover from alcoholism. I'm grateful that there were (and still are) some members who cared less about what the "popular" or PC groups were doing, and cared more for sharing what the suffering alcoholic needs to do for us to recover. I'm grateful that God allows me to hit bottoms, but continually waits for me to surrender again and again to these 12 Steps so I can find the way back. And I'm grateful that I have been taught that gratitude is an action, and others don't need me to continue to talk about the "stuff" in my life...all they need to do is watch how I am living and serving to see the gratitude in my life.
Of course this has just been my experience...yours may be different.
Thanks,
Mike
