親愛なるの仲間の皆様。

臨時委員会（アドホック・コミッティ）として、私たちは奉仕を任されたしもべの役割に就いてくださるボランティアを募集するよう依頼されました。名乗りを上げてくださったデイブ W、ユウ K、チャック S、マイク C、スーザン S の皆さんに感謝いたします。しかしながら、重要な役職であるー（実務担当）およびリスト・キーパーについては、候補者を見つけることができていません。

現在、ビジネス・ミーティングの進行を行う仲間が不在であるため、私たちは全メンバー宛の直接のご連絡という形を選びました。また、この決定については、に参加しているすべての方が検討の対象となるべきだと考えています。

が最初に立ち上がった当時、インターネットやEメールは、私たちの社会においてまだとても新しいものでした。それが私たちの回復に大きく寄与してきたと、私たちは皆感じており、果たしてきた役割に感謝しています。

Zoomミーティングは、私たちのフェローシップにとって非常に見事な適応しました。画面越しに顔を合わせられるという利点とともに、24時間いつでも参加できるオンライン・ミーティングを今も提供し続けています。その結果、Eメールを基盤としたミーティングへの需要は変化してきました。

熟慮と祈りを重ねた結果、私たちは、グループはすでにその役割を果たし終えたと考え、解散するのがふさわしい、との結論に至りました。できれば、「よくやり遂げた」という思いを胸に、品位と穏やかさをもって幕を下ろせたらと願っています。

それが私たちの提案ではありますが、最終的な判断はグループ全体に委ねられています。

以下の動議を提出いたしますので、2026年2月21日（土）までにご投票をお願いいたします。

グループを2026年3月15日付で解散することをここに動議として提案します。また、元各役割の経験者およびミーティング・チェアの方々には、以下の作業を引き受けて完了していただくようお願いいたします。

そうですね……私はロバーツ・ルール (※1) の専門家ではありません。そこで、この件を、40年以上にわたりグループ、地区、地域の各レベルで数えきれないほど多くの委員会に積極的に関わってきた私のに確認してみました。私は彼女の知識を信頼しています。

私が尋ねたところ、彼女はこう答えました。
「委員会から提出された動議は、セカンド（第二動議）を必要としません。なぜなら、その動議は委員会によって自動的に提出され、かつセカンドされたものと見なされるからです。

感謝しているの一員として、いまは自分の意見をほんの一言、共有させていただきます。

ここ数年のうちに、ボランティアを見つけることが次第に難しくなってきました。多くの方が、役職を空けないために、二期以上を引き受けて奉仕してきました。

「主要な」役職を埋めること自体も一つの課題ではありますが、それだけではありません。翌年にローテーションで引き継いでいくことを想定したアシスタントの体制も、これらの役職において十分に整っていない状況が続いています。

年を追うごとに、私たちは同じ苦境に直面しています。

投票は土曜日の夜に締め切られましたが、結果は圧倒的に「グループを継続する」というものでした。ですので、あなたの意見は多数派と一致しています。

AAでは、投票のあとに、その議案に反対票を投じた人たちが、自分の理由や考えを分かち合うための（訳註・少数派の意見を聞くための）時間が設けられます。そのプロセスが行われた場合、再投票が行われる可能性もあります。

個人的には、そうなるとは思っていません。ミーティングを閉じることに賛成したのは2名だけで、そのどちらも強いこだわりや強硬な意見を示してはいませんでした。とはいえ、手続きは最後まできちんと踏む必要があります。少数意見を述べる期間は今夜で終了します。

Dear ESH Members,

As an ad hoc committee, we were asked to recruit volunteers for trusted servant positions. Thank you to Dave W., Yuu K., Chuck S., Mike C., and Susan S. who came forward. However, we have not been successful in identifying candidates for the crucial positions of Secretary or List Keeper.

We have chosen to communicate directly with the full list as the business meeting is without trusted servants at this time and believe all who participate in ESH should be considered in this decision.

When ESH was originally introduced, the internet and email were very new in our society. All of us feel it has added to our recovery and are grateful for the role it has played.

Zoom meetings were a remarkable adaptation on the part of our Fellowship and continue to offer online meetings around the clock along with the advantage of screen-to-screen contact. As a result the demand for e-mail based meetings has changed.

After careful consideration and prayer, we have come to believe that ESH has fulfilled its purpose and should be disbanded, hopefully with dignity and grace and a feeling of, job well done!

While that is our recommendation, the decision rests with the group as a whole.

We offer the motion below and ask for your vote no later than Saturday, February 21, 2026.

We move that ESH be disbanded as of March 15, 2026.

Former trusted servants and meeting chairs are asked to step in and complete the following tasks:

Include a statement about the dissolution of ESH in the topic chairs for 2/22, 3/1 and 3/8 (chair persons). *
Notify OIAA so the ESH listing can be removed from its meeting directory (Mike C.);

Cancel service with list server (Lin C.);
*
Close bank account and donate balance to OIAA (Lin C.).

In the event there are dissenting votes, the minority will be given the opportunity to address the group. Dates above will be shifted if necessary.

So… I’m no Roberts Rules expert.. so I ran this by my sponsor who has been actively involved in countless committees on the group, district and area levels for more than 40 years. I trust her knowledge.

When asked she replied
“A motion coming out of committee does NOT need a second because the motion is automatically made and seconded by the committee.

There must have been at least 2 people in the committee in favor of it or the committee would never had presented it.”

In any case… it’s on the floor and I’m open to anyone else’s take on the motion business.

Our intentions are to handle this the best we can.

I’m sharing now as a grateful ESH member just to give my two cents.

In quite a few of recent years it has become increasingly difficult to find volunteers. Many have taken on two or more terms to keep positions filled.

It’s one thing to fill the “top” spots.. but we also haven’t had full rosters of assistants in these positions with an idea of rotating in for the following year.

Year after year we face the same predicament.

Just some thoughts from me.

ESH has been part of my recovery for the past 30+ years. It has been my primary AA contact for many of those years. If I voted No I would feel the responsibility to step up and do my small part to prevent It's loss. However, I am not able to do so, thus I will abstain and turn it over to HP.

I found you guys years ago, and I have stood on the sidelines, not really replying or given my two cents, but listening and reading to you and it has been a wonderful way to experience the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous

My home group is an online group AA Breakfast Club that meets every morning at 8 AM.

I attend a face-to-face meeting at the HOW PLACE in Acworth, GA.

I find that the way that all you all share your experience, strength, and hope helps this alcoholic. And I promise that I will start sharing so I hope the vote is not to disband this group.

If it is a yes or no vote, I vote yes since ESH has struggled for years to find people willing to rotate through service commitments, especially secretary, which Suanne has done a terrific job with after I had a go at it.

But if there is a groundswell of support— meaning people willing to step up to service positions (including the weekly leads so it isn’t the usual volunteers)— I would be pleased to see ESH have a reprieve.

So many people obviously served by ESH fulfilling the primary purpose. It appears that having the business aspects look like what we think they should look like is not our primary purpose. Yes, people need to serve more in a variety of ways, AND we are continuing to serve each other in the most important way - sharing our ESH!

I am currently volunteering for the Sponsorship List Keeper position, but if the lack of volunteers for other important positions is an issue, I want to express my willingness to take on a more challenging role. In that case, I would likely ask an experienced member to serve as my service sponsor.

I would like to make a formal declaration of my candidacy after consulting with my Japanese sponsor, but I want to express now that I have the intention to do so.

Thanks so much ... for being a part of ESH and your willingness to serve the group.

The vote did end Saturday evening, but it was a resounding Keep The Group Going result, so you're in line with the majority.

In AA, following a vote, a period of time is set aside for those who voted against the matter at hand .. to share their reasoning and thoughts. If that happens, there is a possibility to take a revote.

Personally, I don't see that happening. Only 2 members voted to close the meeting and neither expressed strong feelings about it. But we do have to let the process run its course. The minority opinion period will end tonight.

After that, all discussion about service positions, trusted servants, etc.. will move over to our "Business List". Have you already subscribed there? If not, you can do so with this link:
