Hello. I’m Pam, a grateful alcoholic. Welcome sobriety celebrants and people new to ESH and/or Alcoholics Anonymous. Thank you, Chuck, for the Big Book as topic and mention of the PLBB. Without you mentioning the Plain Language Big Book, I didn’t know it existed. If its intent is to help lead people to sobriety, all good…to “water down” the message, not good.
My first sponsor gave me a Big Book and told me to read the chapters and a few of the stories in the back. I followed directions. Chapters 3 and 5 were and are particular favorites. The meetings I attended early on at the beginning of the meeting read the portion of “here are the methods we have tried..” I eventually was able to get 100% percent and could eventually laugh about it. Still laughing.
My first hard cover Big Book is on a shelf across the room and I have a soft cover close by the chair I frequent, often. I will never be too far away from picking it up and turning to some page be it in one of the chapters or a particular story.
