を体現している、という言葉を思い出させてくれた、「風の街シカゴ」のデビーに感謝します。私が言いたいのは、
BBビッグブック・AAの基本テキスト（書籍）
の章や節をすぐに暗唱できるということではありません。そうではなく、私たちが
ビッグブックビッグブック・AAの基本テキスト（書籍）
の理念を体現する存在であるべきだ、ということです。
私が過去にAAの
スポンサーAAプログラムなどを指導してくれる先輩役のメンバー
をしていた時を振り返ると、いくつかの段階を経ました。そのひとつは、いわゆる「AAナチ」でした。「私の言うことに従え、わかったか？ステップを一緒に進めていく。これをやらなければならない。あれもしなければならない。そうすれば、最終的に本当にソーバーになれるんだ。いいな？」
現在、86歳の私は、自分自身のベストを尽くそうと努めています。どんな人間の力でも、私自身を含め、誰のこともシラフにすることはできないと理解しているからです。「ゆっくりやろう」が、現在私が新しい仲間を導くときのやり方です。

から誰かを解放できるのは神だけです。私たちはその手助けをする者にすぎません。そして、それが私にとってのやり方なのです。

Thanks to Windy City Debbie, who reminded me of the line regarding our lives, themselves, being representative of AA's Big Book. I don't mean our being able to readily spout chapter and verse. What I mean is we should be representatives of the Book's philosophy.
As I look at my past as an AA sponsor, I went through a few stages, one of them being an AA Nazi: "Follow my orders, understand? I'll walk you through the steps. You must do this. You must do that, and eventually you'll become truly sober. Got that?"
Nowadays, at age 86, I strive to be the best possible me, realizing that no human power can sober up anyone, including me. "Easy does it" is my present way of guiding new folks. Only God has the power to relieve anyone of her or his alcoholism. We're his helpers. And that's the way it works for me.
