パム、今週の司会と長年にわたるでの継続的な、そして安定したご活躍、本当にありがとうございます。心から感謝しています。今週バースデーを迎えられた仲間の皆さん、おめでとうございます！特に、あと2日で素晴らしい43年を迎えるパムさんに特別な拍手を送ります！バースデーは大切なものです。そしてに初めて参加される仲間の皆さん、ようこそ！ここに来てくれて本当に嬉しいです。

立ち直ったアルコホーリクのドミニクです。この文章の特に最初の部分が心に響きました。私の経験では、もし本当にAAの生き方を実践し、とAAの原理をすべての事柄に適用しているなら、私のや対応は自然とAAの場を超えて広がるべきだと思います。私にとってAAは単なるではなく、霊的な生き方そのものです。の最初の年から、その生き方は豊かで充実し、自由で喜びに満ちていました。そして、もちろん多くの困難も含まれていました。

私の男性ミーティングの友人、ジェノ・Tがよく言うように、「私たちは『私』よりも『あなた』を大切にする人間にならなければならない。」私はその実践的な言葉が大好きです。それは、自我を超えて奉仕へと成長する方法を明確に思い出させてくれます。

個人的には、私は世界を拒絶したことはないと言いたいです。ただ、世界に従順に従ったわけではありません。今でも、伝統的な意味で「一市民」になることを望んでいるわけではありません。代わりに、別の指針に従って生きるようにしています。アメリカ海兵隊のモットーを少しひねって借りれば、私は「神、国、家族」を信条としています。何年も前に、当時は高尚に感じられたこの考えを受け入れました。それは、自分は神の子であり、今ここにある神の王国に生きているということです。時折、その王国の味わいを感じることがあります。

その霊的な視点から、私は神が毎日、私たちにその王国を前進させる機会を与えてくださっていると信じています。それは、誰かのになることや、励ましを与えること、困難な時期を優雅さと真実をもって乗り越えることなどを通じてです。そのような目的は非常に充実感をもたらします。私たちが正直さと愛をもってと向き合わなければならなかったように、同じ精神で世界と向き合うことが求められていると私は信じています。真実から決して逃げることなく、常に愛の中を歩むことを目指すのです。

私は、AAが示してくれた道のりに心から感謝しています。そして、その道を誠実さと信仰、希望を持って歩んでいる仲間の皆さんにも感謝しています。まさに、「霊的な生き方は単なる理論ではない」のです。

Thank you, Pam, for chairing this week and for your continued service and steady presence in ESH over the years—it’s deeply appreciated. Congratulations to anyone celebrating a sobriety milestone this week! A very special shoutout to Pam, just two days away from marking an incredible 43 years! Milestones matter. And to those who are new to ESH—welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.

Topic:
"I just know that you are expected, at some point, to do more than carry the message of A.A. to other alcoholics. In A.A. we aim not only for sobriety—we try again to become citizens of the world that we rejected, and of the world that once rejected us. This is the ultimate demonstration toward which Twelfth Step work is the first but not the final step."

Dominic recovered alcoholic. This quote really struck a chord with me—especially the first part. My experience is that if I’m genuinely living the AA way—applying the 12 steps and principles to all of my affairs—then my service and availability should naturally extend beyond just the rooms of AA. For me, AA is not just a program; it’s a spiritual way of life. Since my first year of sobriety, that way of life has been rich, full, free, joyful—and yes, it’s included plenty of adversity too.

As my friend Geno T. from my men’s meeting often says, “We have to become more about you and less about me people.” I love that practical gem. It’s such a clear reminder of how we grow beyond self and into service.

Personally, I wouldn’t say I ever rejected the world—I just didn’t conform to it. Even now, I don’t aspire to “become a citizen of the world” in the traditional sense. Instead, I try to live by a different guiding principle. Borrowing from the U.S. Marine Corps motto—with a twist—I live by: God, Country, Family. Years ago, I embraced what felt like a lofty idea at the time: that I am a child of God, living in His Kingdom, here and now. I get tastes of this Kingdom from time to time!

From that spiritual lens, I believe God gives us daily opportunities to advance His Kingdom—whether through sponsoring someone, offering encouragement, or navigating tough seasons with grace and truth. That kind of purpose is deeply fulfilling. Just as we had to confront our alcoholism with honesty and love, I believe we’re called to face the world with the same spirit—never shying away from truth but always aiming to walk in love.

I’m so grateful for the path AA has shown me, and for all of you who walk it with integrity, faith, & hope. Indeed, “the spiritual life is not a theory.”
