仲間の皆さんこんにちは、アルコホーリクのジョーです。
「愛する」とは一体どういうことか？このことについて、よく考えざるを得ませんでした。私にとって愛とは、外科医が腕まくりをしてあなたの体を切り開くような、時に厳しいものです。そしてまた、相手がどんな人でどんな状況にあっても、それを受け入れること――たとえそれが「つらい」（時には非常に）ことであっても、受け入れる心のことでもあります。
オープン・マインド（開かれた心）であり続けること。
「神の恵みがなければ、私もあの人のようになっていただろう」ということを忘れないようにすること。
うまく言葉にできていないかもしれませんが、これが私のシェアです。私は仲間の皆さんの欠点も含めて愛しています…そして本当のところ、その欠点が無かったら、私が仲間の皆さんと出会うこともなかったのかもしれません。

Hello all. I’m Joe, an alcoholic.
I’ve had to give this one some thought. What is it to love? For me love can be a tough thing, like a surgeon rolling up his sleeves and cutting into you. And it can also mean a kind of acceptance of others for who and where they are even if it’s “tough” (sometimes very!) to do so.
To keep an open mind.
To remember “there for the Grace of God go I.”
Anyway, not worded in maybe the best way but there is my share. I love you all warts and all…and maybe in a real sense especially the warts because without them I wouldn’t have been lead to you.
