立ち直ったアルコホーリクのドミニクです。私はステップ6を、もう一度の降伏、つまり自分の意志を神の意志にゆだねるためのもう一つの実践だと考えています。リック・A.がステップ6はステップ3の延長だと語っているのを読んで、とても共感しました。今ではその意味がよくわかります。

神はもちろん、多くの人も私の性格上の欠点を好ましくないと感じていますが、私のこのステップの理解では、それらを取り除けるのは神だけです。私の役割は「完全に準備ができている」ことです。これは小さな役割ではありません。「Drop the Rock」という本に書かれている「完全に準備ができている」についての説明と行動は、役に立ち、的確だと感じています。完全に準備ができているとは、私の意識、全ての意図、そして行動が、それぞれの性格上の欠点の反対の方向に向かっている状態を指します。私は、このことが自分自身を神の意志と調和させるのに効果的だと気づきました。なぜなら、私の性格上の欠点の反対こそが神の意志だからです。

それが私にとってのやり方です。

Good afternoon, ESH:

Thank you, Suanne, for leading this week and congratulations on 24 Years! Also, congratulations to David xxxx on 39 years!! To anyone else celebrating a sobriety milestone: congratulations! And to those who are new to ESH, welcome. We’re truly glad you’re here.

Topic: I thought we might discuss Step 6: "Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character."

Dominic recovered alcoholic. I see Step 6 as another surrender, that is another practice of aligning my will with God’s. I enjoyed reading Rick A.’s share about step 6 being an extension of step 3, I can see that now.

God for sure, and many others find my character defects objectionable, yet only God can remove them as I understand this step. My role is to be “entirely ready,” this is not a small role. I’ve found the explanation and action of being entirely ready described in the book, “Drop the Rock” to be useful and accurate. To be entirely ready, my focus, full intention, and action must be on the opposite of each character defect. I’ve found that this is effective in aligning me with God’s will in that the opposite of each of my character defects is God’s Will.

That’s the way it works for me.
