Hi everybody,
My name is Robert P. and my date of sobriety is January 31, 1988. I live in Montreal, Canada. My mother tongue is French, but I also speak English. In Montreal, there are AA meetings in French, in English, and in Spanish. Oh and there is also one meeting in Farsi (otherwise known as Persian). My homegroup is Acceptance, a closed discussion group that meets on Wednesdays, but I also attend French meetings, three of which are within walking distance from my home. I've been married for 54 years with the same woman and we have two children. I am the only alcoholic in the family.
My life has changed completely since I got sober, but the change is progressive. Alcoholism is a progressive disease, but so is recovery. On page 164 in the Big Book it says that "God will constantly disclose more to you and to us." I found this to be true for me.
Thank you all for being part of my recovery. A special thank you to Susan S. who made me aware of this online group.
